The Data Analyst Intern, under the general supervision of a manager, supervisor, or technical architect, queries and analyzes data pertaining to the core business and its needs. The Data Analyst Intern is assigned tasks of low to moderate complexity and receives assistance when necessary from a manager, technical architect, or senior developer. The Data Analyst Intern brings innovative ideas to the attention of their manager, supervisor, or technical architect before implementing them. The Data Analyst Intern demonstrates clear communication skills, the ability to build good relationships with team members and end users, and possesses exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must.
Schedule: This is an intern position for a special project that will last between 3 to 6 months, about a semester. The number of hours per week will depend on availability.
Compensation: Pay for the project will be $9,000 and will be paid based on project milestones.
What You Can Expect:
• Query relational databases to answer questions pertaining to the business strategy and operations.
• Prepare data for end users, including data sampling, data extraction, aggregation, and other data transformations.
• Develop data tables and prepare analytic reports
• Identify and suggest opportunities to improve or automate processes and workflows
• Update supervisor and/or project managers
• Provide time estimates for deliverables and tasks
• Attend weekly team meetings
• Follow all team secure coding standards
• Follow documented work schedule policies
• Adaptability and flexibility to support periodic projects with aggressive timelines
• Perform other tasks as required
Technical skills
• Experience with SQL databases is required
• Familiarity with data visualization software such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker is required.
• Familiarity with statistical analysis tools such as SAS and R is desirable but not required
• Integrated Development Environments: Visual Studio Code or Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio
• Version Control exposure (Git or Team Foundation Server)
• Expertise in using Microsoft Office Suite
