The Assistant Area Operations Director works directly with the Area Operations Director and is responsible for the management of assigned outpatient dialysis facilities and any associated home and hospital dialysis programs in accordance with written polices established by the Board of Trustee and the Medical Directors.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Provide leadership and direction to all management and staff in assigned region, and upholds a formal means of accountability for all employees.
  • Oversees operational and financial activities and management of multiple dialysis facilities and programs.
  • Ensures a safe and clean environment is provided for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Reviews and oversees patient care and assists Administrator in medical record documentation for compliance with ESRD Network, HCFA, CQI Program, and policies and procedures.
  • Develops and implements nursing policies and procedures in compliance with ESRD Network, HCFA, CQI Program, and other regulatory requirements, and reviews nursing manual annually.
  • Actively develop managers, leaders, and teams.  Promotes teamwork and trust among all staff and management.
  • Assures facility compliance with all regulatory bodies and ESRD Networks.  Furnish Federal and State agencies all data required for certification (or re-certification).
  • Oversees that Care Planning, QAPI, and Governing Body meetings are held on a routine basis, as required.
  • Attend technical, social worker and Clinical staff, Patient Representative Meetings as required.
  • Develops, executes, and enforces policies and operational standards relative to the general operation of the facility and to the protection of patients, personal, and property rights.  Participates in annual review of facility policies and procedures.  
  • Oversees the financial operation of the facility, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and inventory.  Participates in the development of fiscal budgets for assigned clinics, as requested.  Responsible for and accountable for overall cost controls.
  • Works cooperatively with all departments of DCI Corporate Office and provides required reporting in a timely manner.
  • Oversees the clinical and technical operation of the facility, and in coordination with the local clinical team, works to achieve clinical outcomes and benchmark goals as established by the local clinical team and DCI Corporate leadership.
  • Initiates and ensures adequate communication (upward and downward) and timely execution of DCI programs and directives.
  • Assures that formal means of accountability are established by the Medical Director for those involved in patient care.
  • Encourages and facilitates open and free communication between staff, administration, physicians, and patients.
  • Stay informed of changes, trends, and studies in management, nursing and dialysis practices through reading, in-services, networking, and attendance of workshops and conferences.
  • Participates in negotiating agreements into which the facility may enter with vendors, consultants, and providers of services not furnished directly by the facility.
  • Provide signature for AP checks and AP check register in accordance with DCI policy 315.
  • If any driving responsibilities are assigned, employee must be 21 years of age, is required to maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving history approved by DCI or Dialysis Clinic, Inc.


  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Five years of experience in dialysis management.
  • 1 year of clinical experience in dialysis
  • Supervision may include: Nurse Managers, Educator, Home Dialysis Coordinator, Hospital Services Nurse Manager, Technical Manager, Business Office Manager and provides indirect supervision for all other employees.
