  • Overview

    Under the direction of the Area Physician Practice Manager and/or a Physician, the Certified Medical Assistant assists in the normal tasks associated with a specialty practice.


    • Assists in registration, check-out, and reappointment of patients under the direction of the physician.
    • Receives and interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information in patients' medical records. 
    • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
    • Requests medications, lab tests, diagnostic tests, and specialty referrals upon the physician’s orders.
    • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a physician-driven medical practice.
    • Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
    • Performs a variety of tasks.
    • Other tasks as assigned by the Area Physician Practice Manager. 


    • Requires a high school diploma and medical assistant certificate
    • Requires 1-2 years of experience in medical specialty office support or a related field.
